What is SomosKY?
SomosKY is an educational program focused on supporting college access and success for immigrant youth who were brought to the U.S. at a young age without documentation by providing scholarships to participating institutions of higher education located in Louisville, KY
What are the criteria to apply?
- All applicants must be Non-FAFSA eligible due to their immigration status and must demonstrate a financial need
- Arrived in the United States before the age of 16
- Be a current high school senior or high school graduate with a GPA of 2.5 or greater (on a 4.0 scale)
What is the application process?
- SomosKY accepts applicants through a process of an interview and application which includes an essay question
- All applicants will have their high school GPA verified by providing an unofficial academic transcript to SomosKY or through the partner college's application process
- Partner schools will also verify whether the student is eligible to receive federal financial aid
- All immigration eligibility criteria info is self-reported on our scholarship application form
- Selected scholarship applicants may receive up to $8250 annually to a 4-year partner college
